Another sort of advent

The great themes of the Advent season have taken on new significance in the Smith house this December, as we await the advent of our first child, a baby boy. Coleman Cross Smith is due December 28, and as you can see above, much is already beginning to change in our home as we prepare for his arrival. If you find yourself breathlessly impressed by the neatly painted walls and skillfully assembled furniture in Coleman’s nursery, I can recommend a handyman whose craftsmanship has been progressively improving over the past nine months.

The encouragement and generous gifts we have received during this time have reminded Candace and I again of how kind the Lord has been in providing for us such wonderful friends and family members. Thank you to all whose love for us is represented by the baby clothes, blankets, books, and everything else that fills this little room. I will let you know when expectation gives way to fulfillment.
